Alpha Theta WAVE EIGHT 8" Battery Powered Loudspeaker + SonicLink
The AlphaTheta WAVE-EIGHT is a portable 8" battery powered DJ loudspeaker designed for cable-free DJing, parties, events, garden sessions, pop-ups, mobile setups and outdoor use.
Built with SonicLink ultra-low-latency wireless technology, the WAVE-EIGHT can transmit audio much faster than a standard Bluetooth connection, helping DJs mix with confidence without noticeable delay. When paired with compatible SonicLink equipment, such as the AlphaTheta OMNIS-DUO, it makes fully portable, low-latency DJing possible with fewer cables and faster setup.
The WAVE-EIGHT uses a highly efficient Class D amplifier, an 8" woofer and a 1" soft dome tweeter to deliver clear, powerful sound from a compact portable speaker. AlphaTheta lists the output at 110W, with a 2-way bass-reflex active speaker design for punchy playback in both indoor and outdoor environments.
For larger spaces, multiple WAVE-EIGHT speakers can be linked using SonicLink. A single speaker can be used in mono, two can be used as a stereo pair, and additional units can be configured for expanded coverage or subwoofer-style operation. AlphaTheta states that up to 4 WAVE-EIGHT units can be connected simultaneously using SonicLink.
The built-in rechargeable battery offers approximately 8 hours of playback, with charging taking around 4 hours when powered off or around 6 hours when powered on. The IPX4-rated water-resistant design makes it suitable for outdoor events and mobile use, while the extendable handle, casters and grab handles make it easy to transport.
From our own use, the WAVE-EIGHT has proved to be a genuinely useful portable event speaker. We used it at an event at Bonhams in London, where we needed to provide audio in a room separate from the main event. The WAVE-EIGHT gave us high-quality, latency-free audio without running long cables, and the built-in battery meant we could position the speaker exactly where it worked best. After a 3-hour event, the battery was still showing around 75%, with no audio drop-outs and positive feedback from those attending.
